Karwa Chauth: dates, muhurat and meaning.

The next Karwa Chauth is on Thursday, 29 October 2026. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: krishna chaturthi tithi prevailing at sunset). Below are the Karwa Chauth dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.
Karwa Chauth dates
What is Karwa Chauth?
The karwa is the earthen pot offered in the evening puja, when women sit in a circle, pass the thalis and hear the vrata katha of Veeravati. The sargi — the pre-dawn meal from the mother-in-law — opens the day.
Because the fast breaks at moonrise, and moonrise depends on the Chaturthi tithi and local horizon, the moonrise time is the number every household checks — the app computes it per city.
Muhurat on Karwa Chauth
Two timings matter: the evening puja muhurat (roughly the late-afternoon shubh span) and moonrise for breaking the fast. The Abhijit Muhurat above is the daytime anchor; the app's city computation gives both exactly.
