What is Nag Panchami?
Nag worship is among India's oldest strata — the nagas as guardians of water and treasure. The epics tie the day to Krishna's victory over Kaliya and to Janamejaya's snake sacrifice.
A strict classical rule belongs to this day: no digging of earth, lest a serpent be harmed. New construction ground-breaking is therefore deliberately avoided on Nag Panchami.
