What is Sita Navami?
Sita Navami honours Janaki, the daughter of the earth and of Mithila. Married women keep the day for the long life and virtue of the household, recalling Sita's pativrata ideals.
Observance centres on Ram-Sita temples — especially in Mithila (Janakpur) and Ayodhya — with swing (jhula) rites and recitations from the Ramcharitmanas.
